The Rivet at Discovery Space will host its sixth annual Winter Market from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 1224 N. Atherton St., State College.
Featuring dozens of local vendors, food trucks and more, the event offers shoppers a chance to find unique gifts and home goods while supporting local makers and the nonprofit’s mission of providing STEM and maker experiences.
“It’s been inspiring to see the Winter Market grow bigger and more meaningful each year,” Michele Crowl, executive director of Discovery Space and The Rivet, said. “Beyond the beautiful handmade gifts, this event reflects our mission in action: inspiring curiosity, creativity, and connection among learners and makers of all ages.”
More than 70 vendors will be on hand with pottery, glass, woodworking, home goods, art, fiber-arts, stationery, jewelry and chain mail, among other items.
A popular customization station will once again let visitots personalize laser-etched notebooks, pet ID tags, keychains and necklaces, and they can customize their own lab coats using The Rivet’s heat press.
Other shopping highlights include giftable memberships, science kits and stingray plushies — a nod to Pearl, the California round ray spending her first year at Discovery Space, who attendees can visit during the Winter Market.
A gift wrapping station will provide supplies for shoppers to wrap up their hauls.
Admission to Discovery Space will be free during the Winter Market. Live children’s music concerts also will be held from noon to 2 p.m. each day, and other activities will include face-painting, a prize-wheel fundraiser, silent auction, a Give-Back Zone to assemble kits for Discovery Space and The Rivet’s Little Free LABraries and more.
Food trucks, including Bonnie Blue’s, Rumba & Soul, Cakeshop by Tati and Happy Valley Nomadic Spirits will be stationed outside.
Off-site parking is available park at Radio Park Elementary School, with overflow at Giant in the Northland Center (near the gas pumps and clothing donation box). Free shuttle service to The Rivet will be provided from both locations.
Admission to the Rivet Winter Market is free.
